THE CHALLENGE OF FEEDING HUNGRY MOUTHS

The world has made tremendous progress in the field of agriculture. As a result, food production has gone up in many countries. Despite the fact that food production has gone up, more people are dying today due to acute hunger and poverty.

The agricultural production has been vastly centralized, and this is the main reason for the food shortage in many parts of the world. More agricultural production has become possible in certain parts of Europe and Asia. While Africa and several other countries heavily rely on the import of agricultural items.

In a situation like this, if the production of food grains drops due to bad weather, then suddenly the prices of agricultural items will rise. This will largely affect the purchasing power of people living below the poverty line. These poor people will be hit hard.

Hence, if we want hunger to be eliminated from the face of the world, then it is utmost necessary to make underdeveloped countries self-reliant in the production of agricultural food items. In a situation like this, poor countries need not fully depend on rich nations for the supply of food.

The governments of underdeveloped countries must work to build up the necessary infrastructure to boost food production in the country. To do this, farmers should be supplied with good-quality seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides. Regular training related to agriculture should also be provided to them. On top of that, some agricultural banks must assist farmers in buying necessary agricultural tools. So that they can augment agricultural production as a whole.

The state government must make sure that whatever farmers produce, they find a market to sell them locally. If not, then the local authority should purchase all the produce and pay cash to the farmers. This practice will improve the financial condition of farmers as a whole.
