Competition or Cooperation to teach our children

Image
Competition or Cooperation to teach our children By Silpa Gurung Some people believe that children should be encouraged to become competitive, while others advocate for teaching cooperation. From my perspective, I tend to believe that competition is more important than cooperation. Competition is beneficial for children because it motivates them to achieve their goals. A sense of competition helps children become more ambitious and goal-oriented. When children compete, they often push themselves to perform better in academics, sports, and other activities. Moreover, competition helps improve self-confidence and self-esteem. Schools and sports organizations offer various contests such as quizzes, singing, writing, dancing, and games, which encourage youngsters to develop additional skills. These activities also cultivate leadership abilities, which are crucial for a successful future career. Therefore, if young people aspire to build a bright future, they should participate in co...

Physical classes are better than online classes

Image
Physical classes are better than online classes By Binita Tamang Students are advised to take physical classes where they can have face-to-face conversations with their teachers and professors. However, some scholars speak in support of virtual classes. They think virtual classes are the best way to learn. In this essay I will discuss both aspects of the subject, and I will also give my opinion.  Physical classes are useful for students to comprehend the subject in the easiest way possible. Moreover, physical teaching helps students understand their lessons and learn other aspects such as communication, discipline, respect, and punctuality. Rules and regulations make students disciplined, obedient, and laborious, which in turn fosters a structured learning environment that enhances their overall educational experience. These qualities are essential in the lives of all students.  The interaction between students and teachers brings them closer, and students are more co...

A battle against hunger

Photo credit:hungerexplained.org A battle against hunger By Chhabi Subedi   Leading experts believe that over 600 million people all over the world will face hunger in 2030. Against this backdrop, it is pledged to make the world free from hunger by 2030. The target is certainly a daunting task indeed. However, the irony is that over the years the technology has improved and more land has been brought under the plow, but hunger still persists.  According to the latest available data in 2024, about 8.2% of the global population was poorly fed. The situation was not good in 2023. About 2.33 billion people faced acute food insecurity in the year. Hunger and food insecurity continuously dominated the main agenda in many poor countries. The food prices remained higher in recent years than they were during 2015-2019.  A battle against food shortage must be taken seriously, because without feeding the hungry mouths, no sustainable development such as education, health, and commun...

LIVING ABROAD: Communication skill leads to personal and professional success

Image
LIVING ABROAD Communication skills lead to personal and professional success By Nabin Paudel Living in a foreign country where one must use a different language. This can create various social as well as practical challenges. I strongly agree with this notion, as language barriers often lead to difficulties in communication, socialization, and overall quality of life.   To begin with, language reflects not only the way of living but also the adaptability of people in a particular society. Immigrants who settle in a foreign land encounter many unfamiliar social norms and values. Due to hesitation in speaking a new language, they often struggle to integrate with their peer groups. As a result, building friendships becomes a difficult task, and due to this reason, many individuals suffer from isolation and loneliness.   In addition, people may feel uneasy while cooperating with others in professional or social milieus. Communication gap can lead to confusion and misund...

THE ROLE OF EDUCATION CONSULTANCY

Image
Photo: Nepal Education Post THE ROLE OF EDUCATION CONSULTANCY By Kiran Subedi Students often find themselves confused about choosing the right colleges and universities for higher education. Moreover, they are also uncertain about the overall expenditures, accommodation, visa procedures, and documentation. The visa application process can be lengthy due to the different requirements set by the host colleges and universities. Sometimes the entire process can take as long as a year. Education consultancies play a crucial role in assisting students in finding the right colleges, universities, and scholarships for further education. These education consultancies offer a wealth of resources, including expertise, information, and technical support, to students.   These consultancies provide comprehensive information about universities, colleges, and academic programs. They also provide detailed entry requirements, course offerings, and program structures. Leveraging this wealth of...

WHY GIRLS SHOULD WORK PART-TIME JOBS By Ansu Sen Thakuri Working part-time jobs can be beneficial for girls in many ways. It helps them gain financial independence, develop valuable skills, and boost their confidence. Plus, it allows them to explore different career paths and learn time management. Part-time jobs can help girls develop a wide range of skills. Some specific skills they can gain include effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving, customer service, and adaptability. These skills are not only valuable for their current jobs but also for their future careers.  Each person’s reason for working is different. Some women work because they find fulfillment in their work, and for others, it is necessary to support their families. And sometimes both spouses work to secure a better future ahead.  This fact cannot be denied: women in general are more successful at work than men. And it is also true that women are more effective in communication than men...
