INTRODUCING ART AS A SUBJECT IN SCHOOLS

INTRODUCING ART AS A SUBJECT IN SCHOOLS

It has been rightly mentioned that studying art in schools helps improve students’ performance and helps them learn new things. Learning a new thing is a never-ending process.

All schools teach subjects that have been approved by the curriculum board. Teachers don’t allow their students to read books other than their course books. This makes our students no better than bookworms.

All schools encourage their students to study hard and pass the examination with flying colors. A 100 percent success rate for students with high scores is the first priority of boarding schools. The school’s reputation is at stake only if pass percentages are not met.

I strongly recommend that art, a new subject, be introduced in schools. Art should not only be introduced but it should also be made compulsory across the country. The introduction of art will make our students more somber and thoughtful. And what about creativity? Yes, art is the mine of creativity. Students who get involved in Art become contemplative and creative. Creativity is the other name for art. Nowadays, there are many kinds of arts: painting, sketching, singing, dancing, stone carving, woodcarving, and so on and so forth.

During my school time, I had a tremendous interest in painting, but there was no art subject in my school. I also had an interest in singing, but this was not possible as my school had only a dance teacher. The introduction of art in school will have only positive impacts. This subject will help our students grow intellectually and will radiate brilliance and creativity.

Jotika Pariyar passed her SEE examination from Amrit Aadarsha Boarding School, Jaljala, Parbat. Later, she passed her +2 from Phasatikar Higher Secondary School, Butwal. At present, Jodiga lives with her parents in Pokhara. She aspires to higher education in Canada, where she wants to earn a master’s degree in management.
