IS SOCIAL MEDIA BOON OR BANE?

IS SOCIAL MEDIA BOON OR BANE?

Social networks encourage the young generation to develop personal bonds through interacting with each other. I think there are many ways social media can help young people rather than harm them.

In the present scenario, Facebook is one of the most popular forms of social media. Today’s youth use this platform to make new friends. They interact with new people and share their experiences. Thus, social media should be used to develop a friend circle, which boosts a sense of satisfaction and security.

Talking about myself, I am a student; therefore, most students are my friends on social media, and we help each other. Most of the time, we actively interact with and help each other without visiting each other’s homes. This has become possible through social media, like Facebook.

Social media has also helped to keep our relatives and old friends nearer, no matter where they live. A video conversation with the family members living abroad gives the feeling of togetherness. Thus, social media is a boon to modern science.

Some people blame social media for corrupting the young generation. I disagree with this allegation. Social media in itself cannot be bad. Let’s not forget that anything used excessively will certainly have a bad effect on our health. This is true with social media as well. Excessive use of social media will certainly cause several mental and physical complications. It is entirely in our hands to use or misuse social media. If it is used discreetly, social media is a boon; if not, it can also become a bane.
