MY UNDERSTANDING OF THE BODY AND SOUL

By Enjeesa Rai

If I ask people, what is life? What is the purpose of your life? Can anyone answer it? The majority of people will start thinking about it not because they don’t know it but simply because they don’t know how to explain it. Are these questions too difficult? No. Then why do we stammer while answering such fundamental questions? These questions are just examples. There are numerous questions about us that we are unaware of. For instance, who created the soul? The energy?

Still no answer? It’s such a paradox, right? We know, but we still don’t know, and this is the truth. So, let’s plunge into the pool of my experiences and knowledge that I have assimilated. I actually cannot remember the exact date; however, I remember one day I was watching reels on YouTube, when I stumbled on a video and started contemplating. In the reel, a question was raised regarding how the soul is the supreme essence for the existence of human beings, whereas physical features are just trivial matters.

For instance, why do we cry when someone dies? If we were attached to the body of a person, then even after their death, the body could be preserved. Then why do we feel a plethora of emotions? The only conclusion that I can think of is that we are connected to the soul. Some people may conclude my reason is futile because it may seem fallacious; however, can they give me a plausible explanation? If yes, then I am all ears.

Interestingly, the notion people have is that they worship the god through a statue made of stone. If we think rationally, then it is just a stone; however, we have the belief, the notion, that evokes faith within us, so we wholeheartedly pray to the statue of God. So, from where are these emotions arising? I am the type of person whose mind wanders a lot. There are a lot of questions about myself that are unanswered. I know now that there are and will always be questions whose answers are almost impossible to explain. In retrospect, growing up in a traditional environment along with technological advancement, many thoughts have popped into my mind. There used to be a conflict between the thoughts in my mind.

In the past, people used to be scared of ghosts; nowadays, people are scared of people. People hesitate to trust other people, and there is no one to blame because the circumstances have become like that. Unfortunately, people build relationships with ulterior motives and biases in the family based on economic status. People are filled with greed, anger, and lust. People are so busy filling their own pockets, either legally or illegally, that they do not have time or money to help others. Sometimes I wonder, will they take their money in their afterlife? Life has become so complicated. Wealth and fame are the only things people are running after. I prefer spirituality over material things.

I firmly believe there is no future. The only thing that we have is our present. The past has already gone; the future we don’t know; our present becomes our past; and the future is our present. Our lives are limited; however, we live like we have eight or nine lives in our storage. So we have to take care of our precious lives and utilize the time that we have to restore the humanity that is fading away, helping the people who are stranded, spreading education, and educating ourselves. We are born as humans, and humans stand at the top of the pyramid of all living beings in terms of intellect and consciousness.

Unfortunately, some people try to justify their misdeeds as a reaction to a provocation or life hardships. However, life is always filled with ups and downs, and life’s challenges do not allow a person to walk on the wrong path. So the life that we have should be invested in contributing to humankind, valuing and respecting the lives of every species, chasing ambition, being altruistic, and being self-loving.

Coming back to the topic, after contemplating life for a long time, for me, life has become the present moment, which should be invested in helping others and contributing to humankind. We are spreading love and generosity and instilling morality and principles in ourselves. Life is like a long journey for me, which has many phases, and those phases will be filled with ups and downs that will remain for a limited time and continue in a loop. However, the main thing is not to give up.

In conclusion, life is like an exam where, in each phase and mode, we have to make the correct choice, tackle the problem with determination, and pass the exam. In the case of failure, we have to learn from it and move on. And how diligent, meticulous, and disciplined students always get good scores. Similarly, we need to be morally disciplined and have every attribute of a good person to succeed in life.
