ROAD ACCIDENTS NEED IMMEDIATE ATTENTION
By Kshitij Acharya

The rapid pace of development has improved the quality and efficiency of vehicles. Without a doubt, the number of vehicles has increased tremendously in recent years. However, with the increased numbers of vehicles, more incidents of road accidents have also been reported. Thus, the subject of road accidents has become a serious issue today.

Life has become very fast, and people are busier today than they were in the past. They have to use different means of transportation in their day-to-day lives. Most people prefer the fastest mode of transportation so that they can reach their destinations on time.

If we look back in the past, the frequency of road accidents was pretty low. But today, roads are not safe and secure as more accidents are taking place. Among others, poor quality roads could be one potent reason for accidents. Roads are cracked in many places, and several puddles pose serious threats.

Overspeeding is yet another cause of road accidents. Reckless drivers drive their vehicles at high speeds and then lose control of their vehicles. This is one of the reasons for serious accidents. It is also seen that drivers speak on mobile phones while driving. While driving, drivers must not speak on mobile phones. This will distract their attention and lead to a fatal accident.

Due to a lack of strict government action, many unscrupulous drivers drive freely without any fear of the law. Strict legal action and a heavy fine for reckless driving can discourage such wayward drivers. A general awareness program should also be launched by the government. In the meantime, the department of roads should improve the poor condition of the roads. This will certainly reduce road accidents to a large extent, for sure.

Those drivers who are held on charges of reckless driving and killing people in road accidents must be sent to life imprisonment. Such tough legal action will definitely create fear among those careless drivers. Let’s not forget that traffic rules are made for the safety of people on the road and for the safety of drivers.
