Focusing on the syllabus or delving into the outer realm
At present, students have many options to choose a subject of their interest and liking. As science has made tremendous progress, education has become more accessible now than ever before. However, only some colleges and universities can provide such facilities to their students. This is only possible in the developed countries.
When plenty of subjects are available for the students, they are advised to focus on the subject recommended in the syllabus. Parents and teachers also ask students to study books recommended in the syllabus. And they should not waste their time by reading other books not included in their syllabus.
However, many recent studies have indicated that those students who study books have been found more intelligent. A good student should not be confined within the periphery of the syllabus. They must explore more wisdom that they can find in books other than their syllabus. For those students who focus only on the syllabus, their knowledge is limited. They know nothing about the world outside of their syllabus.
On the contrary, some scholars and pedagogues are not tired of eulogizing the advantages of focusing on the syllabus only. According to them, focusing on the syllabus helps students prepare their subjects well to get impressive scores in the examination. Their high scores determine their ability to get better job opportunities in the future.
If I have to make my opinion, I completely disagree with the scholars who think that all students should only focus on the syllabus and not beyond the syllabus.
I strongly suggest that it is advisable for all the students that they should study the courses recommended in the syllabus, but at the same time, they should also take an interest in world affairs. This particular habit will make them more versatile and a potential contender in the race for employment.
Students who read all available literature will have enormous wisdom, and they speak with authority and self-confidence. This is not possible with those students who are merely the frogs of a well.
Today we appreciate Western education. What is the special thing about their way of the education system? Well, their education system encourages students to read all kinds of books. This is the glaring difference between our education system and theirs.
