SUCCESSFUL SPORT-PERSONS EARN MORE MONEY THAN OTHER PROFESSIONALS DO: IS IT RIGHT OR WRONG?

This is a fact that successful sports professionals earn a great amount of money as compared to other important professions. Many people think it is unfair.

This is undeniably true that it is always very challenging to become famous and successful in the field of sports as compared to other professions. The athletes have to devote lots of time to developing certain talent. During those struggling times, they will not have any income until they become popular. It is also not sure whether they will be famous or not. Many athletes, despite hard work and dedication, lost in oblivion.

Athletes must have to sacrifice many things in order to get success. Because competition is so high and beating competitors and making a place among them is if not impossible, but it is definitely very tough. Playing sports is always full of risk. A player possibly might get a serious injury, and his or her entire sporting career can be ruined in a moment. Such accidents are quite common in modern-day sports, where a sporting contest is more like a battle between two teams.

It is always challenging for those athletes who come from middle-class families. For them to achieve success is extremely difficult, if not impossible. We have seen some people who, due to hard work and commitment, eventually attained an unprecedented level of success in their lives.

Now the question is whether it is justified when sporting stars earn too much if compared against other professions like doctors, engineers, professors, managers, or even scientists. Doctors transplant hearts, replace damaged kidneys, and save the lives of patients. But even these professionals do not earn more if compared against the successful sporting starts of the day. Is it fair?

Well, my answer is ‘yes, it is absolutely fare’. And the reason is that the skill that one sporting star possesses cannot be found in other sporting persons. Can we find the talent of Lionel Messy in any other soccer players? Of course not. So, the kind of talent that they have actually makes them superhuman, and therefore they are unique and different from all people in the world. Well, this is not the case with any doctors or engineers. What one doctor and an engineer can do, that can be done by any other doctors and engineers. So, their talents do not make them unique like sporting stars.

Sujan Dhungana has completed a bachelor’s degree in automobile engineering from Western Regional Campus, Pokhara, Nepal. He has planned to go to the US to complete his master’s degree in automobile engineering. As soon as he completes his higher education in the US, he would like to come to Nepal to begin his career.
