LIVING ABROAD: Communication skill leads to personal and professional success
LIVING ABROAD
Living in a foreign country where one must use a different language. This can create various social as well as practical challenges. I strongly agree with this notion, as language barriers often lead to difficulties in communication, socialization, and overall quality of life.
To begin with, language reflects not only the way of living but also the adaptability of people in a particular society. Immigrants who settle in a foreign land encounter many unfamiliar social norms and values. Due to hesitation in speaking a new language, they often struggle to integrate with their peer groups. As a result, building friendships becomes a difficult task, and due to this reason, many individuals suffer from isolation and loneliness.
In addition, people may feel uneasy while cooperating with others in professional or social milieus. Communication gap can lead to confusion and misunderstanding. In most cases, the inability to communicate effectively may cause rejection and suspicion. Definitely, such a situation might leave the immigrants in utter delusion.
Furthermore, language barriers affect people’s daily lives. For instance, shopping, using public transportation, or accessing health services becomes stressful. Even recreational places such as amusement parks bring no charm without proper communication skills. Similarly, in workplaces, a lack of understanding between employers and employees due to language differences often leads to conflicts or reduced productivity.
Nevertheless, these challenges can be overcome with resilience and systematic learning. If individuals remain committed to practicing the foreign language, they can gradually enhance their capacity. Families, schools, and social institutions also play a pivotal role in supporting learners. With proper guidance and encouragement, language barriers can be reduced, allowing immigrants to adapt successfully to their new environment.
In conclusion, due to language differences, people living in a foreign country undoubtedly face numerous social and practical problems. However, with persistence and educational support, these barriers can be overcome, enabling individuals to lead a happier and more fulfilling life abroad.

I think Nepal must adopt the English language for academic purposes. This will solve the issue the writer has discussed in his article.

Nepali students going abroad for higher education have no communication problem, because they must get through IELTS and other proficiency tests. The problem lies with the Nepalese people who go abroad on working visas. Yes, communication is a serious issue with them. Our government must take up this issue as soon as possible.
